Webmail


The recommended method to access your Lafayette Email, Contacts, and Calendars is to use Webmail.  You can also access Webmail from my.lafayette.edu, in the “Connect to My Accounts” block. To access these items from your preferred client, please review the options below.

 

Please Note

  • These instructions may vary slightly depending on the version of your operating system. The specified settings will still apply, but how you get there may differ.

From an Android or iOS device

Configure my Android device

  1. Open the [Settings] Menu or the mail application you wish to use.
  2. Add a new [Exchange] account.
  3. Enter your account information:
    • Email: Your full Lafayette email address
    • Domain: leave blank
    • Username: your Lafayette NetID
    • Password: your Lafayette password
    • Description: Lafayette
    • Server or Server address:
      • Employees: facstaff-mail.lafayette.edu
      • Students: students-mail.lafayette.edu
    • SSL: Select the option to use SSL if available

Once your credentials have been verified, you may be asked to choose the information you wish to synchronize to your device. The default option is to sync Email, Calendar, and Contacts.

Configure my iOS device

  1. Open [Settings].
  2. In the [General] section select [Mail, Contacts, Calendars].
  3. Select [Add a new Account] and select [Exchange].
  4. Enter your account information:
    • Email: Your full Lafayette email address
    • Domain: leave blank
    • Username: your Lafayette NetID
    • Password: your Lafayette password
    • Description: Lafayette
    • Server or Server address:
      • Employees: facstaff-mail.lafayette.edu
      • Students: students-mail.lafayette.edu

From a Windows or mac OS device

On my College-provided PC

College-provided PC’s come pre-installed with the Zimbra Connector for Outlook; providing for a simpler configuration experience for Email, Contacts, and Calendar.

  1. Simply open [Outlook].
  2. The server information and username should be already filled in, simply [enter your password].
  3. Click [OK] to complete the setup.

If you are using a mail client other than Outlook, refer to the section titled “On my personal PC.”

On my College-provided Mac

Mail Client

Configuring a mail client will differ slightly depending on which one you are using.

  1. In your client’s Settings or Preferences area [Add a new Account]
  2. Select [IMAP]You may find this in the “Advanced” or “Other Accounts” area.
  3. Follow the instructions for either [Exchange ActiveSync] or [IMAP] below:

IMAP configuration

Note that IMAP supports only the synchronization of Email.

Enter the following information:

  • Incoming server: incoming.lafayette.edu
  • Outgoing (or SMTP) server: outgoing.lafayette.edu
  • Incoming port (for IMAP): 993
  • Submission/sending port (for SMTP): 465
  • Secure sockets, SSL, Use secure connection, etc. should be enabled for both sending and receiving mail

Contacts and Calendar clients

In your client’s Settings or Preferences area [Add a new Account]

  1. Select [CardDAV] for Contacts or [CalDAV] for Calendar clients You may find this in the “Advanced” or “Other Accounts” area
  2. Enter the following information:
    • User Name: Your Lafayette NetID
    • Password: Your Lafayette NetID Password
    • Server Address: https://webmail.lafayette.edu:443

On my personal PC

Mail Client

Configuring a mail client will differ slightly depending on which one you are using. If your mail client supports Exchange ActiveSync, create an account of that type, if not please use IMAP.

Note that IMAP supports only the synchronization of Email.

  1. In your client’s Settings or Preferences area [Add a new Account]
  2. Select [Exchange ActiveSync] or [IMAP] You may find this in the “Advanced” or “Other Accounts” area
  3. Follow the instructions for either [Exchange ActiveSync] or [IMAP] below:

Exchange ActiveSync configuration

Enter your account information:

  • Email: Your full Lafayette email address
  • Domain: leave blank
  • Username: your Lafayette NetID
  • Password: your Lafayette password
  • Description: Lafayette
  • Server or Server address:
    • Employees: facstaff-mail.lafayette.edu
    • Students: students-mail.lafayette.edu
  • SSL: Select the option to use SSL if available
