Piazza is a free web application intended to create a space for instructors, teaching assistants, and students to facilitate a collaborative learning environment. A paid license is required to access premium features such as polls, statistics, and class locking capabilities and can be purchased by individual instructors or departments. From the Piazza interface, instructors can answer student questions, endorse student answers, and edit or delete content.

  1. Click the [Turn editing on] button
  2. Choose the topic block to which you would like to add your Piazza Module
  3. Click Add an activity or resource
  4. Choose “External Tool” in the Activity Chooser
  5. Choose Piazza from the Preconfigured Tool option Piazza LTI
  6. Name the Piazza Module, and Save
  7. Click the module link that was created to open a new tab to complete the Piazza set-up process

    • The term, instructor, course name and course number should be auto-populated on this page
    • You will be prompted to create a password to login to Piazza (if you do not already have an account). Click [continue] to proceed
    • Enter your estimated enrollment, and click [Create New Piazza Class] to create your class Piazza

Accessing Piazza

  • Piazza is accessible through a course page on Moodle or using the Piazza iOS/Android Mobile App.

For students to self-enroll in course Piazza:

  1. Select the Piazza module in the course Moodle page to open a new tab to complete the set-up process.
  2. They will be prompted to create a password to login to Piazza (if they do not already have an account).
