SMBmapper is a program developed and supported by ITS to allow a macOS user to easily mount his/her samba shares and is the easiest way to connect to your Lafayette file shares. If you are using a College-provided Mac, SMBMapper can be found in your Applications folder. If you are using a personal Mac, you will find links to download the software below.

I'm using a Lab computer or my College-provided Mac

SMBMapper is present on all College-provided macOS devices. You can find it in the Applications folder.

I'm using my personal Mac

On your personal Mac, you’ll first need to download SMBMapper

You can find your macOS version from “About this Mac.”

Using SMBMapper

  • Launch [SMBMapper] from Launch Pad or your Applications folder.
  • You will be presented with a login prompt. Enter your NetID and password and click [OK].

After a successful login, your shares should appear as drives when browsing the files on your computer.

If you don’t see your file shares, review the help section below to adjust your Finder preferences.

Seeing too many shares?

  • To mount only your preferred shares, login to SMBLinker and only check the items you wish to see.

To access file shares from off campus on a Windows, macOS, or Linux device, you must first be connected to the VPN.

Have a Question?

How do I disconnect my shares?

Click the [Eject] symbol next to the drive listed in the Finder window. You can also drag the drive icon on the desktop to the Trash in the Dock; the Trash bin will appear as an Eject symbol.
