Symantec Antivirus software
Part of protecting your computer means installing anti-virus software and keeping it current. In an effort to protect the campus from virus outbreaks, Lafayette has licensed anti-virus software from Symantec for campus and home use. The current iteration of Symantec's software for Windows is Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), which replaces Symantec Antivirus as the campus standard for virus protection. Download the appropriate version and run the installer.
Windows 7, 8.x, and 10 Installation
Separate versions of SEP are available for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems. It is important that you install the SEP version that matches the version of your Windows operating system. (To determine if you're running a 32-bit version of Windows or a 64-bit version, see below.)
If you already have anti-virus software installed on your computer you must uninstall it before installing SEP. While it's possible to install SEP "on top" of Symantec Antivirus versions greater than 8, ITS strongly recommends that you uninstall even current versions of Symantec Antivirus before installing Symantec Endpoint Protection.
Note that installing Symantec Endpoint Protection without first uninstalling other anti-virus software can result in damage to your computer. Before downloading and installing SEP make sure you have read the installation instructions.
Before Installation — determine the version of Windows installed on your computer

- Windows 7 and Windows 8.x – right-click the [Computer] icon on the desktop or Start Menu, select "Properties, and in the System section note the "System Type".
