Dealing with Spam

The mail server receives over half a million messages per day. Close to 95% of these messages are identified by the Proofpoint anti-spam appliance as spam and discarded, that is, they're never delivered to the In mailboxes of Lafayette email accounts. However, no anti-spam mechanism is perfect, and occasionally unwanted email will slip by Proofpoint and get delivered to you. If you get the occasional unwanted email, consider following one or more of the suggestions below.

Customizing Your Proofpoint Anti-Spam Settings

Proofpoint analyzes and scores all incoming email. Messages are either discarded, delivered, or quarantined based on the message score and each user's spam detection policy. In addition to choosing a personal spam detection policy, each user can make "End User Digest" choices and maintain safe and blocked sender lists.
