Do I need to setup my iPad with an Apple ID?

No, you can setup your College-managed iPad without logging in with an Apple ID. However, you are welcomed to do so should you want to install more apps beyond what the College is managing.

Even though the iPad is managed by the College, can I still log in with my Apple ID and install my own apps?

Yes, absolutely! All the apps purchased and managed by the College (e.g., Notability) will be installed and updated by the College. However, you can use your own Apple ID to install any apps you might’ve already purchased through your own Apple ID.
