Lafayette CollegeTechnology Help
There are several ways to schedule Zoom meetings, including the desktop app, Google Calendar, and the Zoom website. However, for the best experience, we encourage you to use the Zoom website. It provides the most consistent reliability and ensures full access to all meeting options.
Once logged in, you will land on the “My Meetings” page.
Click the “Schedule a Meeting” button located at the top right of the screen.
Basics: Enter the Topic, Date, and Time.
Video: Set both Host and Participants video to “On” (recommended).
Audio: Select “Both” (Telephone and Computer Audio) to give participants flexibility.
To prevent unwanted guests (mitigate “Zoom-bombing”), enable at least one of the following:
Waiting Room: Allows you to vet participants before they enter.
Passcode: Requires a code to join.
Require Authentication: Restricts entry to signed-in members of the Lafayette community (best for internal meetings).
Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.
Locate the “Invite Link” on the confirmation page.
To Share: You can copy and paste the link directly, or click “Copy Invitation” to generate a pre-made script (including dial-in numbers) to email to your participants or add to your Moodle site.
Log back into the Zoom portal.
Locate your scheduled meeting in the list.
Click “Start” (Note: Verify that the Meeting ID matches the link you sent to participants.)
If the Zoom app is not already installed on your (or your participant’s) device, it will download automatically when the meeting launches.
