Computer Lifecycle

ITS ensures that every division of the College is outfitted with the latest computer technology, offering a robust selection of both Windows and macOS devices to cater to diverse needs and preferences.

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of performance and reliability, which is why we adhere to a strict four-year lifecycle for equipment replacement. This proactive approach guarantees that all departments have access to up-to-date technology, enhancing efficiency and supporting the College’s mission.

What equipment will be provided?

The standard deployment consists of the following equipment:

  • Laptop, display, keyboard, mouse, and docking station.
  • An external webcam will be provided upon request.

There may be cases where a non-standard configuration is more appropriate. In this case, ITS will work with you to determine what equipment would best suit your needs.

Secondary displays

  • ITS will provide assistance in purchasing a second display, however the funding must be provided by your department.
  • If you currently have a department funded secondary display, and it is compatible with the latest equipment, it will be installed.

Need a computer for a new employee?

  • Once the “Account Workflow” has process started, ITS will receive notification of your employee’s start date.
  • We will reach out to the stakeholders to understand the technology requirements of your new employee and schedule a session for the installation and setup of their Lafayette computer.
  • On the scheduled installation date, we will offer insights into their computer, our technology ecosystem, and address any inquiries they might have regarding ITS and the support services we offer.

Do I need to be present when my computer is installed?

Yes.

To complete the various steps of the install, each user will need to be present to login to their new computer with their Lafayette credentials.
