Accessing Gmail and Calendar from a Device

Web access

  • The recommended method to access your Lafayette Email, Contacts, and Calendars is to use Gmail in a web interface at webmail.lafayette.edu.

Note: These instructions may vary slightly depending on the version of your operating system. The specified settings will still apply, but how you get there may differ.

From an android or iOS device

Configure my Android device

Gmail can be accessed either through the Gmail App (downloaded from the App Store) or through the Android mail application.

Accessing Email from Gmail App

  1. Download the Gmail App from the Android App Store.
  2. Open the App and select the Menu in the top left.
  3. To the right of your username, select the Down arrow and choose “Add account”.
  4. Enter your Lafayette email address and select Next.
  5. You will now be taken to a single-sign-on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  6. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.
  7. After your account is added, you’ll be signed in to Gmail any time you open the Gmail app.

Accessing Email from Android Mail

  1. Open the [Settings] Menu or the mail application you wish to use.
  2. Add a new [Google] account.
  3. You will now be prompted to sign in to your Gmail account.
  4. Enter your full Lafayette email address, and select “Next”.
  5. You will now be taken to a single-sign-on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  6. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.
  7. You will be prompted to select which things you want to sync to your device. The default option is to sync Email, Calendar, and Contacts. Turn off the things you don’t want to sync, and select [Save] in the upper right-hand corner when finished.

Configure my iOS device

Gmail can be accessed either through the Gmail App (downloaded from the App Store) or through the iOS mail application.

Accessing Email from Gmail App

  1. Download the Gmail App from the iOS App Store.
  2. Open the App and select the Menu in the top left.
  3. To the right of your username, select the Down arrow and choose Add account.
  4. Enter your Lafayette email address and select Next.
  5. You will now be taken to a single-sign-on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  6. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.
  7. After your account is added, you’ll be signed in to Gmail any time you open the Gmail app.

Accessing Shared Calendars using the Google Calendar App

  1. If you would like to add shared calendars to your Calendar app, please visit the Google Calendar Sync Select page.
  2. Here you can select which calendars you’d like to sync.
    1. If you are signed into multiple Google accounts, you may be redirected to your personal account. To resolve this, go to Google Calendar, select your Lafayette account, and add “syncselect” in place of “r” at the end of the URL in your web browser.
