These instructions may vary slightly depending on the version of your operating system. The specified settings will still apply, but how you get there may differ.

From an android or ios device

Configure my Android device

Gmail can be accessed either through the Gmail App (downloaded from the App Store) or through the Android mail application.

Accessing Email from Gmail App

  1. Download the Gmail App from the Android App Store.
  2. Open the App and tap the Menu in the top left.
  3. To the right of your username, tap the Down arrow and tap Add account.
  4. Enter your Lafayette email address and select Next.
  5. You will now be taken to a single-sign on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  6. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.
  7. After your account is added, you’ll be signed in to Gmail any time you open the Gmail app.

Accessing Email from Android Mail

  1. Open the [Settings] Menu or the mail application you wish to use.
  2. Add a new [Google] account.
  3. You will now be prompted to sign into your Gmail account.
  4. Enter your full Lafayette email address, and tap Next.
  5. You will now be taken to a single-sign on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  6. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.
  7. You will be prompted to select which things you want to sync to your device. The default option is to sync Email, Calendar, and Contacts. Turn off the things you don’t want to sync, and tap Save in the upper right hand corner when finished.

Configure my iOS device

Gmail can be accessed either through the Gmail App (downloaded from the App Store) or through the iOS mail application.

  1. Download the Gmail App from the iOS App Store.
  2. Open the App and tap the Menu in the top left.
    To the right of your username, tap the Down arrow and tap Add account.
  3. Enter your Lafayette email address and tap Next.
    You will now be taken to a single-sign on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  4. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.
  5. After your account is added, you’ll be signed in to Gmail any time you open the Gmail app.

Accessing Email from iOS Mail

  1. Go to [Settings].
  2. Scroll down to Passwords & Accounts > Add Account, and then select [Google].
  3. You will now be prompted to sign into your Gmail account.
  4. Enter your full Lafayette email address, and tap Next.
  5. You will now be taken to a single-sign on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  6. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.
  7. You will be prompted to select which things you want to sync to your device. The default option is to sync Email, Calendar, and Contacts. Turn off the things you don’t want to sync, and tap Save in the upper right hand corner when finished. Note that Gmail may sync a great deal of contacts to your device. To limit this, you can clean the up at Google Contacts.
  8. If you would like to add shared calendars to your Calendar app, please visit https://calendar.google.com/calendar/syncselect and select which calendars you’d like to sync. If you are signed into multiple Google accounts, you may be redirected to your personal account. To resolve this, go to Google Calendar, select your Lafayette account, and add “syncselect”in place of “r” at the end of the URL in your web browser.

From a Windows or Mac OS Device

On my College-provided PC

Windows 10 Mail or Calendar App

  1. Open the [Mail] app
  2. Select [Add an account]
  3. Select [Google]
  4. Enter your Lafayette email address and click [Next]
  5. Enter your Lafayette credentials and click [Login]
  6. Click [Allow]
  7. If you would like Windows to remember your login information click [Yes]. If not, click [Skip].
  8. Enter your preferred name and click [Continue].

Outlook

  1. From the Start Menu, run [Set up a G Suite Sync user]
  2. Enter your Lafayette email address, click the [Remember me] checkbox, then click [Continue]
  3. A Google webpage asking you to select an account will open. Select your Lafayette account. If you account is not listed select [Add an account] and enter your Lafayette email address.
  4. You will then be redirected to a Lafayette sign-in page. Enter your credentials and click [Login]
  5. Click the [Allow] button to enable the G Suite Sync client to access your data
  6. You will then see a message saying “Authorization has been granted successfully.” Close the window
  7. Open G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook (it may be already open but minimized).
  8. Leave all of the the default options selected and click [Create Profile]
  9. Click [Start Microsoft Outlook]
  10. On the profile selection menu, click [Options >>]
  11. Check [Set as default profile]. If you have a single mail profile, also uncheck [Prompt for a profile to be used]. If you have multiple mail profiles, keep it checked.
  12. Click [OK]
  13. The G Suite Sync will begin to synchronize your Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. You may leave the window open to view its progress.

If you had a signature, you can re-enable it by clicking on [File > Options > Mail > Signatures]. Select your signature for both New messages and replies.

If you had email archives you with to add, click [File > Open & Export > Outlook Data File]. Select the archive you wish to add and select [Open].

On my College-provided Mac

Mail Client

  2. Choose [Google] from the list of accounts.
  3. Enter your full Lafayette email address, and select Next.
  4. You will now be taken to a single-sign on page where you will need to enter your Lafayette NetID and password.
  5. Once signed in, Two-Step Login will be prompted.

Contacts and Calendar clients

Once your Lafayette account has been added to [Internet Accounts] in [System Preferences], you will see the option to select which things you would like synced on your computer including Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Messages, and Notes. Selecting Contacts and Calendars will add that information to your Mac calendar and contacts clients.

On my personal PC

Windows 10 Mail or Calendar App

  1. Open the [Mail] app

If you have an existing Zimbra mail profile, follow these instruction to remove it

  1. Download G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook
  2. Run [googleappssyncsetup.exe] from your Downloads folder
