Hosts can record their Zoom meetings to their computer or to their Zoom portal. Because the Zoom portal provides a limited amount of storage for all pro licensed accounts, recordings stored in the Zoom portal will be deleted after 60 days.

Where are my Zoom recordings?

  • Zoom recordings will remain in one’s Zoom portal for 60 days.
  • Users can enable the Zoom to Panopto integration to automatically save Zoom recordings to Panopto.
  • For more private, long-term storage of Zoom recordings, download them from the Zoom portal and save them to Google Drive.

Publishing Zoom recordings in Panopto

Employees and students can opt-in to the new Zoom to Panopto integration using the instructions below. The Zoom to Panopto integration allows users to set up their Zoom recordings to move automatically to a folder in their Panopto account.

Instructions to Opt-in to the Zoom to Panopto Integration

  • Log in to the Panopto site using your Lafayette credentials.
  • Select your initial icon in the upper right and select the [User Settings] button in your account menu.
  • Check the box to the left of the “Lafayette Zoom Integration 1 (Zoom)” setting towards the bottom of the User Settings Info page.
  • Select “Update”Choose a default folder using the drop-down menu to the right of the “Default Folder” setting.
  • Then select “Save”. This setting will allow you to choose a folder to store all of your Zoom recordings.

Downloading recordings from the Zoom portal

  1. Sign in to the Zoom portal.
  2. In the navigation menu on the left, click the “Recordings” link.
  3. Click the More button to the right of the recording you want to download and click “Download (2 files).”
    • If your meeting has not finished converting, the recording will show in the list with a Processing Recording label. You will receive an email confirmation when processing is complete.
  4. This will download a .mp4 video file, a .m4a audio file, and if applicable a .txt file of the chat. If you attached other files to the Zoom meeting, they also will be downloaded.

Storing downloaded Zoom files

  1. Identify a Google Drive folder or Shared drive to save the files downloaded from the Zoom portal.
  2. Drag and drop these files into the designated location.
  3. Once these files have completed transferring, delete them from your computer.

Deleting cloud recordings from the Zoom portal

You can delete all cloud recordings on your account, which moves the files to the trash where you can permanently delete them manually. If you don’t permanently delete them manually, they will be deleted for you in 30 days.

Deleting all cloud recordings

  1. Sign in to the Zoom portal.
  2. In the navigation menu on the left, click the “Recordings” link.
  3. Click the Delete All button located just at the top of the list of recordings.

Deleting individual cloud recordings

  1. Sign in to the Zoom portal.
  2. In the navigation menu on the left, click the “Recordings” link.
  3. Click the More button to the right of the recording you want to download and click “Delete.”
