This guide will show you how to use Adobe Podcast, an institutional, web-based tool that helps you create professional-sounding podcasts and voiceovers.
Access Adobe Podcast
- Go to https://podcast.adobe.com in a web browser.
- Select [Sign in] in the upper-right corner and log in with your Lafayette credentials.
- Choose “School Account” on the next screen.
Get Your Setup Ready
Before you start recording, you should always check your microphone and/or camera settings.
- Select the “Tools” drop-down menu and choose “Studio”.
- Select the [+New project] button.
- Select the “Record” tab at the top of the page.
- Adobe Podcast will analyze your microphone and your camera. Choose the “gear” icon to set your camera and/or microphone settings appropriately.
- You can choose to click the camera icon to disable your video, or the microphone icon to mute your audio.
- Once you have confirmed your setup, you can select [Start recording] to begin recording. See “Record and Edit in the Studio” below for more information.
Make Your Recordings Sound Professional with “Enhance Speech”
The “Enhance Speech” tool is used to clean up recorded voice audio.
- This tool works to remove background noise and echo from your voice recordings.
- It can make voice recordings sound as if they were recorded inside a professional studio.
- You can also upload many files at once using the bulk upload feature.
- Note on Premium: So long as you’re logged in with your Lafayette credentials, you have access to the premium plan. This can adjust the strength of the enhancement to keep the sound more natural. Premium users can also upload video formats like MP4 and MOV.
Record and Edit in Studio
Studio is where you record, edit, and enhance your projects using your browser. Select [New Project] to begin! See “Get your Setup Read” above to set your recording options appropriately. You can jump into example projects like a true crime podcast, a class lecture, or a fashion podcast to see how it works.
Recording High-Quality Audio
- You can record high-quality audio by yourself or invite remote guests to join you.
- To invite guests, select [Invite guests] in the upper-right of your project page. Choose to send them a shareable link or send an email to join the recording.
- Studio captures everyone’s audio as separate tracks (16-bit 48k WAV format). This works well even if someone has a poor internet connection.
- Studio projects can include access to pre-edited, royalty-free music collections, including sounds for intros, outros, transitions, and background music.
- To include Adobe Podcast’s music in your project, choose the “Edit” tab at the top of your project.
- Select “Music” from the left-side menu. Choose a music option and click the play button to get a sample of the song. Choose the [+] button to add to your project.
Editing Audio Like a Document
- Adobe Podcast Studio transcribes every word you say. This means you can edit your audio just like you edit a text document.
- To cut or compose your story, simply cut, copy, or paste the text, which makes editing much easier.
- This transcription uses the same leading technology as Adobe Premiere Pro.
Other Helpful Tools
Adobe Podcast also provides several other tools to help you create content:
- Caption Video: You can add captions to your podcasts, which is helpful for public viewers.
- Transcribe Audio & Video: You can transcribe files and download the text version as a text document or a PDF.
- Convert Audio to Video: You can use this tool to create an audiogram.
