Alumni Email Forwarding
Q: What is an alumni forwarding account?
A: An email forwarding account allows you to show your contacts, through your @alumni.lafayette.edu address, that you are a proud ’Pard. This service allows you to maintain your assigned @alumni.lafayette.edu address no matter what internet service provider you use.
Q: Does everyone have an alumni forwarding account?
A: All alumni are eligible to have an alumni forwarding account. However, you must opt in to the service. The Office of Alumni Relations sent out a survey in March 2015 to alumni who used forwarding under the old system. If you responded to that survey, you have been automatically opted in.
Q: How do I opt in to the alumni forwarding account?
A: To opt in to have an alumni forwarding account, you need only provide Lafayette with the email address to which your messages should be forwarded. Visit password.lafayette.edu to set up your forwarding address.
Q: I had an alumni forwarding account under the old system, will it still work?
A: The previous system, managed by an outside vendor, was discontinued. The system is now managed completely by Lafayette’s IT Services. Your forwarding address will always be your NetID @alumni.lafayette.edu.

Q: How soon after I opt in or change my email address will it take effect?
A: It can take up to two hours for your change to take effect. You will know it is working when you receive an auto-generated message in your email inbox.
Q: How do I check my @alumni.lafayette.edu email?
A: All messages sent to your @alumni.lafayette.edu email address will be forwarded to the email address that you specified on the opt-in page.
Q: How do I send messages from my @alumni.lafayette.edu
A: All emails will be sent using your existing email account. Your email provider may allow you to set up an alternate “Reply” address in your email account to show your @alumni.lafayette.edu. You may need to check with your email provider for instructions on how to do this:
Q: Messages from Lafayette end up in my SPAM or Junk Mail account. How can I fix this?
A: To prevent messages sent from Lafayette from landing in your junk mail account, add the domain “alumni.lafayette.edu” (without quotation marks) into your safe list. For specific directions, please check with your email service provider.
