The Password Change Utility is a web application that allows you to manage your Lafayette NetID account.

Password reset is enabled by setting a recovery email on your NetID. If you forget your Lafayette password, you can be emailed a temporary link to your recovery email.

How do I add my recovery email?

To set or update your recovery email, enter your Lafayette credentials and follow the prompts to add or change the recovery email.

What if I don’t have an email address other than my Lafayette address to use for a recovery email?

You can set up a free email account with providers such as Gmail.

What if I don’t enter a recovery email?

If you do not have a recovery email, you will not have the ability to reset a forgotten password without the assistance of ITS.

If you forget your password or your NetID account is disabled and you need to reset the password, contact the Help Desk at help@lafayette.edu or (610) 330-5501. You will be contacted by ITS to schedule a time to reset your password.

Can I change my recovery email?

If you know your password, you can log in and change your  recovery email. Remember to do this if you change email providers or stop checking the address you have provided.

What are my Lafayette credentials used for?

Your NetID and password are used for email, the College portal, Moodle, network storage, wireless, Skillman Mac login, and most other SSO-protected Web content. A list of systems and their credentials is available on the Help website.

How often do I need to change my Lafayette password?

Lafayette passwords do not expire. However, it is a good practice to change them regularly, such as every three to six months, or anytime you think your NetID account might have been compromised.

How do I change my current password?

If you know your current password, enter your NetID, current password, and a new password in the “Change your NetID Password” form.

What is a strong password?

A strong password is difficult to guess by both a person and a computer. Password strength is increased by including at least eight characters along with mixed-case letters, numbers, and one special character. As you enter a new password, a strength indicator will let you know if the password is strong enough to be used.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

If you have already set a recovery email on your NetID account, you can reset a forgotten password. Enter your NetID and a temporary link will be sent to your recovery email. You will have two hours to click the link and enter a new password. If you do not complete the reset before the link expires, you will need to repeat the process.

I forgot my password and I haven’t set up a recovery email yet. What should I do?
